Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about our HVAC services, pricing, and scheduling.

General

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Zoop HVAC Repair holds all required Texas state licenses for residential and commercial HVAC work. Our technicians are EPA Section 608 certified for refrigerant handling, and we carry full general liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage.

What areas do you serve?

Our primary service area is Houston, TX and the greater Houston metro. We also serve Phoenix, Tempe, Plano, Richardson, Surprise, Avondale, Buckeye, El Mirage, and Maricopa. Contact us to confirm service availability in your area.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. We provide free, no-obligation estimates for all HVAC installations and major projects. For repair service calls, there is a standard diagnostic fee that is waived if you proceed with the repair.

What HVAC brands do you work on?

We service all major HVAC brands including Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Rheem, Goodman, Daikin, York, Bryant, and American Standard. Whether your system is brand new or 20 years old, our technicians can diagnose and repair it.

Pricing & Scheduling

How much does an HVAC service call cost?

Our diagnostic service call fee starts at $89, which covers a thorough system inspection and diagnosis. Repairs are priced upfront after diagnosis so you know the exact cost before we begin. Common AC repairs range from $150 to $600. Full system installations are quoted individually based on your home's size and needs.

How soon can you schedule a service call?

Most non-emergency service calls can be scheduled within 1-2 business days. Same-day service is available for urgent cooling issues, especially during Houston's summer months. Emergency service is available 24/7.

Do you offer financing for new HVAC systems?

Yes. We offer flexible financing options for new AC installations, furnace replacements, and complete HVAC system upgrades. We work with multiple lenders to find a payment plan that fits your budget. Ask about our 0% interest promotional financing on qualifying systems.

Emergency Services

Do you offer 24/7 emergency HVAC service?

Yes. Our emergency line is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. In Houston's extreme heat, a broken AC is more than an inconvenience — it's a health risk. A certified technician is typically on-site within 60 minutes for Houston area emergencies.

What qualifies as an HVAC emergency?

A complete AC failure during Houston's summer heat, strange burning smells from your HVAC system, gas odors near your furnace, unusual sounds like banging or screeching, and refrigerant leaks are all emergencies. When in doubt, call us at (346) 214-0688 and we'll help you determine the urgency.

What should I do while waiting for the technician?

If your AC stops working, check your thermostat settings and circuit breaker first. If you smell gas, leave the home immediately and call 911, then call us. For AC failures, close blinds and curtains to keep heat out, use fans to circulate air, and stay hydrated. Avoid opening windows if the outdoor temperature is above 90°F.

Specific Services

How long does a new AC installation take?

A standard residential AC installation takes 1-2 days depending on the complexity. If ductwork modifications are needed, it may take an additional day. We schedule installations to minimize disruption and always clean up thoroughly when the job is complete.

How often should I service my HVAC system?

We recommend a professional tune-up twice a year: once in spring for your AC and once in fall for your heating system. Regular maintenance extends your system's lifespan by 5-10 years, improves energy efficiency by up to 25%, and catches small issues before they become expensive repairs.

What is a mini-split system and is it right for my home?

A mini-split (ductless) system provides heating and cooling without ductwork. It's ideal for room additions, garages, sunrooms, and older Houston homes without existing ductwork. Mini-splits are highly energy efficient and allow zone-by-zone temperature control.

Do you offer indoor air quality services?

Yes. We install and service air purifiers, UV germicidal lights, whole-home humidifiers and dehumidifiers, and advanced filtration systems. Houston's humidity makes indoor air quality especially important for preventing mold growth and maintaining respiratory health.
